We are happy to announce that the staff of FactCheck.org has won a 2010 Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Our coverage of deceptive claims about the federal health care legislation was selected by the judges for the non-deadline reporting award for independent news sites.
SPJ says it fielded more than 1,400 entries in several categories for print, radio, television and online work. Our entry included the following five articles from 2010:
Health Care Summit Squabbles, Feb. 25
A Final Weekend of Whoppers? March 19
More Malarkey About Health Care, April 19
Health Care Spin — Again, Oct. 28
The Truth About Health Insurance Premiums, Nov. 19
These awards for excellence in journalism have a long history — going back to 1932 — and we are honored to be among this year’s recipients.
