Another Deceptive Trump Ad Attacks Harris Using Partial Quotes from News Outlets
Less than a month after we wrote about a misleading ad that used out-of-context quotes to attack Vice President Kamala Harris on taxes, former President Donald Trump’s campaign has released another anti-Harris ad drawing from the same deceptive political playbook. This time, the campaign used distorted quotes from news outlets to criticize Harris on taxes, illegal immigration and other issues.

Republican Farmers Featured in Harris Ad Are Not Actors, Not Democrats
An ad from Vice President Kamala Harris features a Pennsylvania farming couple who say they are “lifelong Republicans” but are voting for Harris. Social media users, citing a video from an Australian news site, falsely claim the couple are “actors” and Democratic donors. The news site has corrected its report.
Harris’ Position on Health Care for Transgender Prisoners and Detainees
Q: Does Kamala Harris support government-paid gender-affirming surgery for prison inmates and immigrant detainees?

Trump Ad on Taxes Uses Deceptive Political Playbook
In a classic example of how political ads mislead viewers by using out-of-context quotes, a TV ad from former President Donald Trump’s campaign cites the New York Times as saying Vice President Kamala Harris “is seeking to significantly raise taxes.” Period, end of sentence. The rest of that sentence in the Times said: “on the wealthiest Americans and large corporations.”
Ad Misleads on Harris’ Fracking Position, Uses Debatable Figure for Fracking-Reliant Jobs in PA
Vice President Kamala Harris has said that she will not attempt to ban fracking if elected president, a reversal of a position that she took during her 2020 presidential campaign. But a TV ad from Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick claims that Harris “will make” hundreds of thousands of fracking-dependent jobs in Pennsylvania “disappear.”
Trump TV Ad Falsely Claims Harris Has ‘Unleashed’ IRS on Tipped Workers
The Internal Revenue Service did not implement a new voluntary program that certain employers could have used to report tips earned by their workers. But the proposal is partly the basis for a Trump campaign TV ad that falsely claims Vice President Kamala Harris “weaponized” and “literally unleashed” the IRS on tipped workers.

Lake Ad Makes Misleading Claim About Gallego and Noncitizen Voting
Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego has consistently said that he opposes allowing anyone other than United States citizens to vote in Arizona and in federal elections. But in a campaign ad attacking him, Arizona Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake misleadingly claims that the congressman “supports … allowing illegals to vote.”
